Born and raised in Ndwedwe, a rural community in the north of Durban, Hlangulani Msomi is founder and Managing Director of INDAYI Communication, INDAYI Youth Foundation and the growing KZN based event INDAYI Homecoming Festival. While registered at the University of Zululand for LLB he became popular on campus, not for his zeal in law lecture rooms, nor his notable active hand in student governance but for mobilising the best campus entertainment ever known to an otherwise timid campus. The student life and media bug bit.
He made his way to Johannesburg to pursue his real passion, media and marketing. With the natural social flair he made a successful case to join Moving Tactics in 2006 and later joined Campus Media in 2007 as a National Event Manager where he fronted multiple projects including; launching the 24/7 McDonalds opening in SA, MTN Campus Challenge, IEC Swagg or Not, ICC Champion Trophy Tour, FNB Lifestyle Tour and FIFA Zakumi Launch Road Show where he established himself comfortably in the youth market. He then moved on to ComutaNet as a National Senior Campaign Manager, while completing his Management Studies with a specialization in Marketing and other leadership courses.
In 2010, after much experience in the both the youth and township market, INDAYI Communication was born. A national marketing and advertising company based in Johannesburg and Durban. INDAYI focuses on brand strategy, advertising, media buying, digital media, event management and activations.
Hlangu is also the brains behind the Indayi Homecoming Festival (IHF), a music and arts festival which takes in his hometown of Ndwedwe in December annually. IHF has run successfully for 4 years bringing South African talent to the otherwise sleepy village but also empowering local artists by giving them a platform to showcase their talent. IHCF act as a vehicle to motivate and inspire the youth of Ndwedwe to aspire for more.
Hlangu is passionate about youth and community development, hence the Indayi Youth Foundation acts as a catalyst for bringing people of all races and cultures together in the spirit of friendship, ubuntu, shared creative entertainment and advocating social cohesion, all for the betterment of society through economic and social upliftment.
